In a standard 30-second absorption test, Ancell holds around 1000% of its own weight in liquid, against 700–900% for typical competing nonwovens. That gap is not cosmetic: it is the difference between a mask that drips into the neck and one that keeps working for twenty minutes.

Retention and speed are different things
A sheet can hold a lot of serum but release it slowly, or absorb fast and give it back just as fast. Ancell is designed to do both — fast uptake during filling, controlled release during wear. The finer fibre structure also spreads serum more evenly across the sheet, so the forehead does not end up drier than the cheeks.
Formulation implications
- Higher retention means you can reduce fill weight without losing perceived wetness.
- Even conduction reduces the need for excessive thickeners to stop migration.
- Lower fill weight per unit directly reduces cost per mask.
Before switching substrates, run a side-by-side retention test with your own formula — viscosity and surfactant load change the numbers considerably.
